We have noticed the international art community’s growing interest in Qazaqstan’s contemporary art and culture. Curators, gallerists, collectors, and scholars are turning their attention to Central Asia, with its rich tapestry of history, culture, and natural beauty, is increasingly capturing the global spotlight. This region, historically a crossroads of numerous civilizations, offers a unique blend of the traditional and the modern, which is vividly reflected in its contemporary arts. Kazakhstan, as a pivotal nation within this region, embodies this fusion, presenting a dynamic cultural ecosystem that appeals to the international art community.

The burgeoning interest in Kazakhstan's contemporary art and culture is driven by its innovative artists and architects who are making significant contributions to the global cultural dialogue. This has led to a growing curiosity and engagement from around the world, cementing Central Asia's role as a vibrant hub of creativity and cultural exchange.

Curators, gallerists, collectors and scholars regularly inquire about the country’s art scene, cultural ecosystem, leading institutions as well as artists and architects.

Despite the interest, people often do not feel comfortable traveling to new places without local partners or friends.
Hence, our Almaty Field Trip’s program specifically designed for creative minds around the world, who are drawn to the country's art scene, cultural ecosystem, leading institutions as well as artists and architects.

WHO

We are a group of art managers, curators and creatives who have been supporting contemporary art in Qazaqstan since 2011. In the span of 12 years we brought over a hundred of art professionals to Almaty. Recently we shifted our focus to organizing trips for groups of 5-7 people to digest local culture, spend quality time with artists and establish lasting collaborations.

CROSS CULTURAL WORKSHOP
QAZAQSTAN 2022
One of our favorite and most recent projects was the Cross Cultural Chairs initiative in 2022, led by Italian designer Matteo Guarnaccia. We invited and assembled a dynamic group of thirteen international and local talents from various disciplines to Kazakhstan to rethink traditional saddle design. This blend of local craftsmanship and global insights resulted in a collection of five saddles that were as functional as they were artistic, showcased in exhibitions in both Almaty and Paris. For a closer look at the fun and creativity this project sparked, be sure to watch the film by David Leon Fiene.

EXPECTATIONS

Our program is mainly centered in Almaty and consists of in-depth immersion into Qazaqstan’s art scene. We aim to familiarize participants with the current state of Qazaqstan’s culture and, subsequently, the Central Asian region.

We will walk around the city, meet artists in their working environments, visit notable architectural sites and explore the diverse local dining scene.
